The Shaykh : means it is near Riyad as-Salihin 1822 and in another wording Sahih Muslim 2894d the Euphrates is the well-known river in the east of the Arabian Peninsula. This river may recede until an island of gold or a treasure of gold emerges in the middle of the river. However, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from taking from it because of the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) that arises from taking it, for it will be a cause of killing, and people will fight over it, resulting in the shedding of blood. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned against taking from it so that blood would not be shed because of it. This will happen, and some contemporary people have claimed that this is a reference to the oil fields in the east of the Arabian Peninsula, but this is not correct, because oil is not called gold. Gold is a known metal, whereas oil is a liquid and is not one of the solid metals like gold, silver, lead, and the like. They say that we call oil "black gold," so we say that "black gold" is not gold in the Arabic language. Gold in the Arabic language is this known red metal.

The Shaykh : Is there a hadith before this?

The Euphrates is soon to uncover a treasure of gold, but those who are present must not take any of it.

The Euphrates will soon
يوشكthe River Euphrates will dry up to unveil a treasure of gold
أن يحسر الفرات عن كنز من ذهبa mountain of gold
عن جبل من ذهبThe reciter: And from him (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
The earth will vomit oblong `pieces of its liver like columns of gold and silver, and the murderer will come and say it was for this he committed murder, the breaker of family ties will come and say it was for this he broke them, and the thief will come and say it was for this his hand was cut off. They will then leave it and not take any of it.
The student: There is a hadith before this, O Shaykh.
