The harms of the Muslims' disagreement and their division into sects and parties, and that it is a cause of abandonment and defeat

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... But, with great regret, this Islam, which is agreed upon by the Muslims, has seen the Muslims divide in their understanding into various schools of jurisprudence and many paths. This is the problem that Muslims live and experience today. They have fallen into what their Lord, the Lord of the Worlds (Blessed and Exalted is He), warned them against in more than one verse of His Book, and His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) confirmed it in more than one hadith from his hadiths. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
and do not be of those who associate others with Allah (32) [Or] of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has. ولا تكونوا من المشركين من الذين فرّقوا دينهم وكانوا شيعا كلّ حزب بما لديهم فرحون
[Ar-Rum 30:31-32]
Have we divided in our religion after we agreed that it is Islam and nothing else? With great regret, the Muslims have been divided since the second century of the Hijrah, and they remain divided, as the Lord of the Worlds said in the Noble Qur'an:
(118) And if your Lord had willed, He could have made mankind one community; but they will not cease to differ. (119) Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them. But the word of your Lord is to be fulfilled that, "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together." ولو شاء ربك لجعل الناس أمة واحدة ولا يزالون مختلفين إلا من رحم ربك
[Hud 11:118-119]
They differed from ancient times, and their difference increased in this last era we are living in today, where you know that they differed in the past in beliefs, ideas, schools of jurisprudence, and in the paths. And what do you know about the paths? The paths of the Sufis, which cannot be counted, especially since some of these paths explicitly contradict the Noble Qur'an, which says:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way وأنّ هذا صراطي مستقيما فاتبعوه ولا تتبعوا السبل فتفرق بكم عن سبيله
[Al-An'am 6:153]
Some of those paths say explicitly, without any ambiguity, "The paths leading to Allah are as numerous as the breaths of the creatures." And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says, as you just heard:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way وأن هذا صراطي مستقيما فاتبعوه ولا تتبعوا السبل فتفرق بكم عن سبيله
[Al-An'am 6:153]
