Explaining the recommended practice of delaying the 'Id al-Fitr prayer.

The Shaykh : You have spoken well. It is recommended to delay the 'Id al-Fitr prayer and to advance the 'Id al-Adha prayer. Why? Because the 'Id al-Fitr prayer is preceded by the payment of zakat al-fitr, and the best time to pay zakat al-fitr is between the Fajr prayer on the day of 'Id and the 'Id prayer. Therefore, the prayer should be delayed to allow sufficient time for the payment of zakat al-fitr. Also, people eat before it, so they should be given time to do so. As for 'Id al-Adha, this is not prescribed, so it should be hastened to allow sufficient time for the slaughter of the sacrificial animals.
