I came for 'Umrah on Saturday with my family, and on Monday my wife started menstruating. I want to travel, so is the farewell tawaf obligatory for her, or does she owe an expiation?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. He says:The questioner : I came for 'Umrah on Saturday with my family, and on Monday my wife started menstruating. I want to travel, so is the farewell tawaf obligatory for her, or does she owe an expiation?

The Shaykh : Yes, the farewell tawaf is waived for a menstruating woman and a woman with post-natal bleeding. The evidence for this is the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
People were commanded to make the Tawaf round the Ka’bah their last rite;(Farewell Tawaf but the menstruating women were excused from it. أمر الناس أن يكون آخر عهدهم بالبيت - يعني الطواف- إلا أنه خفف عن الحائض
Bulugh al-Maram 778
Therefore, the farewell tawaf is not obligatory for a menstruating woman, neither in Hajj nor in 'Umrah. Yes.
