Farewell Tawaf Is Not Obligatory for 'Umrah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 21041 )
Q1: During my visit with my wife to Makkah and the performance of 'Umrah, we stayed there for two days
approximately. And when I performed the farewell tawaf before leaving Makkah , my wife came on her period, so she performed tawaf out of ignorance of that. What is the ruling on that? May Allah guide you.
A1: First: The correct view is that the farewell tawaf is not obligatory for 'Umrah; rather, that is specific to Hajj; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the pilgrims to perform the farewell tawaf, and it is not reported that he ordered the 'umrah performers to do so. Second: The menstruating woman does not have to perform the farewell tawaf in Hajj; because it was made easier for the menstruating woman. So what your wife did was out of her ignorance, which is excused, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
