The mention of the consensus of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) that Allah rose above His Throne in a manner befitting Him.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : You should say, “What do you say? You should say, ‘He rose above His Throne, rising above it in a manner befitting His Majesty, Mighty and Majestic. We do not ask how, nor do we distort it; rather, we follow what the Companions agreed upon.’ Did the Companions agree that ‘He rose above the Throne’ means He rose above it? Yes.”
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : “He rose above the Throne” means He rose above it, by the consensus of the Companions. How is that? Because the Companions recited the Qur'an, and not a single letter came from any one of them stating that “He rose” means “He took control.” Consequently, they are in agreement on what this word indicates, according to the Arabic language by which the Qur'an was revealed, by which the Qur'an was revealed.
