What is the ruling on the battles and fighting that took place among the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and the statement that if one had been present in the time of al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), he would have supported him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah forgive you, may Allah reward you with good. I read in the transcript of the lesson that one who fears for himself regarding the stories of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) and the trials that occurred among them should not read them. I once read about what happened to al-Husayn, and I swore by all that is sacred that if I had been present, I would have supported him. What do you think of this? Is there a sin on me for it?

The Shaykh : I see—as you have heard—that the battles and fighting that took place among the Companions should not be read by anyone except a man who is secure in himself from being unjust to any of the Companions. This is because history contains distortion in reality, especially what comes from the Rafidah. In truth, they distorted history greatly and lied about the Banu Umayyah with a flagrant lie, refuge is sought in Allah.
And the moderate, balanced history, such as al-Bidaya wa al-Nihaya by Ibn Kathir, a person may fear for himself not from leaning toward one of them, for leaning toward one of them is not a problem, but he fears for himself from misleading the others, blaming them, hating them, and being hostile toward them. This is what is prohibited. In any case, every person is the judge of his own self; if he fears trial for himself, then leaving what he fears will lead to trial is better.
