What is the ruling on one who performs tayammum due to the coldness of the water, while it is possible to heat the water?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
O Shaykh, two or three nights ago, some people performed tayammum for the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers because the water was cold. There were people who lit a fire, heated the water, performed wudu', and combined the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers by advancing them. They prayed the voluntary prayer out of fear that their wudu' would be broken, and they prayed witr?

The Shaykh : This action combines several things:
First: those who performed tayammum while it was possible to heat the water and perform wudu' with it, their prayer is invalid and they must repeat it, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) only permitted us tayammum when we do not find water or when we are ill and unable to use it.
As for praying 'Isha' with Maghrib by advancing them, and then praying witr afterwards, this is valid and there is no harm in it. But those who did not perform wudu', they must repeat Maghrib and 'Isha', and repeat the voluntary prayers if they wish, because the voluntary prayer is voluntary; whoever wishes to make it up does so, and whoever wishes not to make it up does not.
Then their saying that the air is cold, praise be to Allah for what protects from the air. The tent is erected and standing, protecting from the air. Turning one's back to the wind, if you put the wind behind your back, it does not harm you.

The questioner : Is the condition for tayammum the absence of water and illness?

The Shaykh : The only condition is the inability to use the water, whether due to illness, the absence of water, or it being so cold that we cannot use it and we have nothing to heat it with.
Glory be to Allah! When people submit to laziness, the matter becomes easy for them, meaning that they make it easy for themselves to neglect obligatory duties. People in the past would travel in winter on camels and be exposed to this cold or more, and this wind or more. They would stand at the pond where the top had frozen into ice, break the ice and perform ghusl with it, breaking the ice and performing ghusl with the water beneath it. People had strength of faith, and although we do not agree with them in this action, because it is feared for the self, but even so they did not care. And these people are afraid that if its warmth is gone, it will be cold. Glory be to Allah! We seek help from Allah.
