A sermon on Hajj.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, who has made Hajj obligatory upon His servants to His Sacred House, and has assigned for it abundant reward and ample grace. Whoever performs Hajj to the House and does not commit lewdness or transgression emerges from his sins as pure as the day his mother bore him, free of sins and faults. And the accepted Hajj has no reward except Paradise, the abode of peace.
And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, the Possessor of majesty and honor. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, the most excellent of those who prayed, paid zakah, performed Hajj, and fasted. May Allah send blessings and peace upon him, upon his noble family and his noble Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence, as long as nights and days succeed one another, and may He send abundant peace. As for what follows:
O people, fear Allah the Exalted and fulfill what Allah has made obligatory upon you of Hajj to His House, wherever you are able to find a way to it. For Allah the Exalted said in His Book:[Ali 'Imran 3:97], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 8a.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that Islam is built upon these five pillars, and the Islam of a servant is not complete until he performs Hajj, nor is the structure of his Islam sound until he performs Hajj, if he is able to find a way to it.
It is narrated from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I was on the verge of sending men to these provinces to look for every person who has wealth but has not performed Hajj, and to impose the jizyah upon them. They are not Muslims, they are not Muslims." For this reason, there is a narration from Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) that abandoning Hajj while it is obligatory is apostasy from Islam. O Muslims: The obligation of Hajj is established by the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the consensus of the Muslims, which is a definitive consensus. Whoever denies the obligation of Hajj has committed disbelief, and whoever acknowledges it but abandons Hajj is in danger. For Allah the Exalted said, after mentioning its obligation upon people:[Ali 'Imran 3:97] How can the soul of a believer be at ease in abandoning Hajj while he is able to perform it with his wealth and his body, while he spends much of his wealth on what his soul desires? How does he know that it is one of the obligations and pillars of Islam, yet he is stingy with himself in performing this obligation? How does he spare himself the hardship of Hajj while he burdens himself with hardship in the matters of his worldly life and comfort?
And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, the Possessor of majesty and honor. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, the most excellent of those who prayed, paid zakah, performed Hajj, and fasted. And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
ولله على الناس حج البيت من استطاع إليه سبيلا ومن كفر فإن الله غني عن العالمينAl-Islam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough (to bear the expense of) the journey.
