The questioner : A woman visited a relative, and they accused her of having cast the evil eye on one of their children, as we call it, a scratch, so she began to reduce her visits to her relative, not to sever family ties, but so as not to get involved again in the accusation from which she is innocent. Does she commit a sin, given that she speaks to her on the phone?
The Shaykh : Allah the Mighty and Majestic says:[Al-Hujurat 49:12] And how many people suppose a supposition, and the matter turns out to be the opposite. It is not permissible for her to suppose that this woman cast the evil eye on her son without evidence. Yes, if there is evidence, such as having heard words from her or her being known for her evil eye, then there is no blame in taking precautions against her. But mere suspicion, for some suspicion is a sin. My advice to this woman is to rely on Allah the Mighty and Majestic, to place her trust in Him, and not to follow her illusions, for whoever follows illusions is lost. We ask Allah for safety for us and for her.
The questioner : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you.
The Shaykh : Allah the Mighty and Majestic says:
O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوا كَثِيرًا مِنَ الظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ إِثْمٌThe questioner : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you.
