They accused them unjustly of what the accuser himself is more deserving of *** so that he might deflect from himself the act of the wrongdoer (The similarity of the people of innovation to the hypocrites in casting labels)

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "A section on purifying the people of hadith and the Shari'ah from ugly and abhorrent terms".
He (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
"They accused them unjustly of what the accuser himself is more deserving of *** so that"
"They accused them" means that these people of ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) accused the people of hadith of things for which the accusers themselves are more deserving than these ugly and abhorrent terms. Just as the hypocrites accused the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions of things for which the hypocrites themselves were more deserving. The hypocrites said, "We have not seen anyone like these reciters of ours who are more greedy in their bellies, more lying in their tongues, and more cowardly in the encounter". Whom were they referring to? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions. In reality, these descriptions apply to whom? To them. We have not seen anyone more lying in their tongues than the hypocrites. For this reason, lying is one of the signs of the hypocrite. And we have not seen anyone more cowardly than them, even outside of battle.[Al-Munafiqun 63:4] If one of the people would shout for his children or his child in the market, they would think he was shouting at them. Yes, "and more greedy in their bellies". "More greedy" means wider, due to the excess of eating, and that they have no concern other than filling these bellies. And we know that those who have no concern other than filling their bellies are the hypocrites. They did not practice hypocrisy except to remain alive so that the believers would not kill them.
So, these people of ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) accused the people of the Sunnah of things for which they themselves are more deserving. He said:
"so that he might deflect from himself the act of the wrongdoer"
Meaning, to deflect the evil from himself by accusing others. And among the sayings of the common people is, "He hit me", right? "and he cried and got ahead of me and complained".
