(Explanation of the delusion of the people of innovation and their loss in abandoning the texts and following rhetoric and opinion) But you were content with hopes and were tested *** by desires and the support of brothers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : "But you were content with hopes and were tested *** by desires and the support of brothers"
This is a trial, and may Allah protect us, from Allah the Mighty and Majestic, for a person to turn away from the Book and the Sunnah and to follow the opinion of so-and-so and so-and-so. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
(27) And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. (28) Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend. (29) He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. ويوم يعض الظالم على يديه يقول يا ليتني اتخذت مع الرسول سبيلا يا وليتا ليتني لم أتخذ فلانا خليلا لقد أضلني عن الذكر بعد إذ جاءني
[Al-Furqan 25:27-29]
This is an example that applies exactly to the followers of taqlid (following a scholar without knowing his evidence) who prioritize the sayings of the shaykhs over the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes, he says:
"Rather, that delusion deceived you" Who is it? Who is the delusion? Satan. Allah the Exalted said:
And the Deceiver deceived you concerning Allah. وغركم بالله الغرور
[Al-Hadid 57:14]

"Rather, that delusion deceived you and your souls *** and the whispers of Satan"
"Sawwilat" means it made attractive to you the whispers of Satan, so you followed him.
