Reading from the poet's words: "These dwellings were enlivened by them and then desolated..." to the end of the chapter

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "These dwellings were enlivened by them and then desolated *** The abodes of knowledge and faith
They preferred the world and the pleasure of its life"

The Shaykh : So this is how we interpreted his words, and it is correct that his meaning by "the people of the world" is its inhabitants. His meaning by his saying: "its inhabitants" is: those who preferred it over the Hereafter. Yes.
The reader: "They preferred the world and the pleasure of its fleeting life *** over the Gardens and the Pleasure of Allah
They kept company with hopes and were afflicted by their desires *** And they were content with every humiliation and degradation
They toiled and labored without ceasing *** In what is in it of sorrow and grief
And by Allah, if you had seen those camels *** You would have seen them like the cauldrons of fire"
.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest!
The reader: "And its fuel is desires, regrets, and *** pains that do not diminish for as long as time lasts
Their bodies are the graves of those souls *** which have been buried with the bodies
Their souls are in loneliness and their bodies *** in their toil, not in the pleasure of the Most Merciful"

The Shaykh : In our [copy]: in their toil.
The reader: Did you hear?

The Shaykh : In their toil means a second copy, in their toil.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, no, this is a second copy, because the meter does not differ and neither does the meaning.
The reader: "Their souls are in loneliness and their bodies *** in their toil, not in the pleasure of the Most Merciful
They fled from the servitude for which they were created *** So they were afflicted by the servitude of the self and Satan
Do not be pleased with what they chose for their souls *** For they have accepted humiliation and deprivation
If the world were equal to a mosquito's wing *** The Lord would not have given it to this one who is ungrateful
But it is, by Allah, lower in His sight *** than that wing which is short in flight
And it has certainly turned away from its owners *** So happiness from it has settled with the later ones
No faithfulness is expected from it for its lovers *** Where is faithfulness from a treacherous host?
It was created with impurity, so how can it be attained *** pure? Is this ever possible?
O lover of the world, prepare for what *** the lovers have attained in every age
Have you not heard, or rather seen, the deaths of the *** lovers, from the gray-haired"

The Shaykh : Gray-haired, gray-haired
The reader: "Have you not heard, or rather seen, the deaths of the *** lovers, from the gray-haired and the young men".
