(The call to reform the hearts and purify love for Allah alone, so that one loves what Allah loves and hates what Allah hates, and that love brings peace to the heart) Transmission

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : But what settles in the heart? Listen, he said:
"Transfer your heart wherever you wish from passion, *** and choose for yourself the best of people"
Meaning, to be the best of the children of Adam.
"For the heart is compelled to its *** highest beloved, so no second love suffices it"
Yes
"For the heart is compelled to its *** highest beloved, so no second love suffices it"
That is, any other beloved besides the highest beloved? Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). We ask Allah to make us and you among those whose hearts He fills with the love of Allah.
"For the heart is compelled to its *** highest beloved, so no second love suffices it
And his rectification, his success, and his bliss *** is the purification of this love for the Most Merciful "

Truthfully, whoever wants success, happiness, bliss, and peace, let him purify his love for Allah; he will find rest and tranquility, because he does not care about anyone else, and he loves others for Allah and in Allah, not alongside Allah, such that his love for this created being competes with the love of Allah. This is shirk, a type of shirk.
And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah. ومن الناس من يتخذ من دون الله أنداداً يحبونهم كحب الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:165]
There are some women, as we hear in questions, who love their husband intensely, to the point that she... sometimes reveals what is in her heart, saying, "You are dearer to me than everything, even Allah." I seek refuge in Allah. Yes, because the heart, may Allah protect us, when it is filled with the love of the created, forgets everything. But when it is filled with the love of Allah, it remembers everything and proceeds on the guidance and light of Allah. It does not love except for Allah, does not hate except for Allah, does not show loyalty except for Allah, and does not show enmity except for Allah. For this reason, I call myself and you to the sincerity of love for Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Make your Lord the most beloved thing to you, so that you love whom He loves and hate whom He hates, and you will find rest, rest. As for love based on this world or what is in this world, it is truly tiring. As some have said: "The torment of love is torment" except what? Except from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), for His love is peace, peace of the heart and tranquility of the heart. For this reason, he says:
"For the heart is compelled to its *** highest beloved, so no second love suffices it
And his rectification, his success, and his bliss *** is the purification of this love for the Most Merciful "

And this does not mean that you do not love anyone if you love Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Necessarily, if you love Allah, you will love whom He loves, is that not so? For this reason, it came in the hadith:
two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only رجلان تحابا في الله اجتمعا عليه وتفرقا عليه
Sahih al-Bukhari 660
Necessarily, you must love whom Allah loves. But your love for whom Allah loves is subordinate to the love of Allah, and in that case, it cannot compete with it. Rather, it is a branch of what?
The student: Of it.

The Shaykh : A branch of it, a branch of it. For this reason, you find that you love this man as long as he is worthy of love in Allah. If he deviates, may Allah protect us, then you will hate him; you will not love him; you must hate him. So, fill your heart with the love of Allah; you will find rest, rest. Even your words, actions, walking, coming, sitting, and sleeping will all be beneficial to you, because you are mindful that you are doing it for Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
He says: "If he abandons it" From what? From the love of the Most Merciful, (Mighty and Majestic).
"He becomes lost *** and returns in this universe in delusion"
Correct. If his heart is empty of the love of Allah, he becomes lost and wandering, here one time and there another, here one time and there another. So, my brothers, purify your love for Allah. And with that, also magnify Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Magnify Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because through love comes the performance of obedience, and through magnification comes the avoidance of sin. Because if you know the greatness of the Lord (Mighty and Majestic), you will revere Him and fear His disobedience. And if you love Him, you will desire Him and seek Him. For this reason, worship cannot be completed except on these two foundations: love and magnification.
