The Shaykh : No, [Al-Insan 76:2-3] the meaning of the last verse is not hidden from many people. What is its meaning? [Al-Insan 76:3] The meaning is that We guided him to the truth, whether he was a grateful one or a disbeliever. Then We made clear the consequence for each of them. This means that Allah guided him to the path in any state he was in, by what He sent through the messengers in the form of books, and by what He placed in human nature. Despite this, people divided into those who are grateful and those who are ungrateful.
Now, is the hearing that Allah attributed to man like the hearing that He attributed to Himself? No. Now, man has strength and the elephant has strength; are the two strengths the same? No. Which one is stronger? The elephant is stronger. Now, the ant has a body and the camel has a body; which one is larger? The camel, without a doubt. So, if there is this great difference between the created things, one to another, how can you, O imitator, not understand the great difference between the Creator and the created? If it is permissible for the created things to be similar, as is the case, then humans are the same, camels are the same, and sheep are the same. If it is permissible for the created things to be similar, then that is not permissible regarding the Creator, for He (Mighty and Majestic) has no counterpart, no likeness, and no equal. So how can what He informed about Himself be interpreted as similarity? The result is that the people of likening (tashbih) have contradicted both reason and transmitted evidence.
(2) Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (3) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.
