The Shaykh :[Ad-Duhaa 93:3] To whom is this address directed? To the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This is because the revelation was delayed, and it was said that Muhammad had been abandoned by his Lord and that his Lord had become displeased with him. So Allah swore that He had not abandoned him and had not become displeased with him. "He has not abandoned him" means what? He has not left him. And "He has not become displeased with him" means He has not hated him. Rather, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) loves him, and He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is his Guardian. He is the One who took care of him with the greatest care.
If someone were to ask: Did not the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ask by Quraysh? They said, "Tell us about a man who owned the east and west of the earth, and about a group of people who hid in a cave for a long period, meaning the People of the Cave, and about Dhul-Qarnayn. Tell us about them. If you, O Muhammad, claim that news comes to you from the sky, then tell us about these." He said, "Tomorrow I will inform you. Tomorrow I will inform you."
Do you know how many days the revelation was delayed? The revelation was delayed for fifteen days, and the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) said to them, "I will inform you tomorrow." But the revelation was delayed for fifteen days. Then the revelation came down with the explanation of the People of the Cave and the explanation of whom? Dhul-Qarnayn. In this are great wisdoms that become apparent to the one who reflects. If he had informed them tomorrow, meaning if the revelation had come down at night and he had informed them the next day, they might have accused him and said, "This man is fabricating speech on his own." But when the revelation was delayed and he had promised them, it became known that he does not speak except with what? Except by revelation. If he had been a liar—and may Allah protect him (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) from that—he would have brought forth what he brought forth to confirm the speech he had promised them. But he only recites what is revealed to him. So in this are great wisdoms that become apparent to the one who reflects.
Likewise, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) intended to make clear to His Prophet that the matter is the matter of whom? That the matter is the matter of Allah, and that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has no share in the matter. For this reason, He said to him in Surat al-Kahf:[Al-Kahf 18:23-24] And if this is the upbringing of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for His messengers, what can be said about us? May Allah will it. We say, "Tomorrow we will come to you," or "Tomorrow we will do such and such," without saying "if Allah wills." And for that reason, there is no blessing in our promise, nor in our work, because we did not say "if Allah wills." This story is with whom? Meaning, the fact that Allah delayed the revelation because the Messenger of Allah did not say "if Allah wills"—with whom? With Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. A story exactly like this in meaning occurred with another prophet. Who is he? Sulayman.
Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].
