Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A woman responds to wedding invitations in a place where she knows there are prohibited acts. She does not sit in the place where the prohibited acts are; rather, she leaves it for another place. Is it obligatory for her to respond to the invitation?

The Shaykh : Regarding responding to an invitation that contains prohibited acts, the scholars said: if one is able to change it, he must attend for two reasons:
The first reason: responding to the invitation, if it is an invitation that must be accepted.
The second reason: removing the prohibited act. If he is unable to do so, it is not permissible for him to respond, because the host who approves of the prohibited act has no sanctity in reality such that one must respond to his invitation. This makes the matter clear. So if these weddings contain prohibited acts, the original ruling is that a person does not respond to them, whether he remains in the place where the prohibited acts are or moves far away. However, if the inviter is among close relatives and a person fears that there will be a severance of family ties between them, then he attends, greets them, and shows himself to the people. And when the prohibited thing begins, he leaves. Yes.
