Explaining that whispers can come from the jinn and from human beings to human beings, and the necessity of keeping the company of the righteous and avoiding the bad companion.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The fact that the jinn whisper to humans is a known matter, but do the children of Adam whisper to people? Yes. Allah the Exalted said:
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion
[Al-An'am 6:112]
Yes, the children of Adam whisper to one another. You find a man heading in a sound direction, and then one of the people comes to him, talks to him, whispers to him, and turns his head until he is turned upside down. This is observed. Therefore, it is obligatory for a person to know who his close friend is? Who his companion is? Who his friend is? Is he a man of good? Or a man of evil? If he is a man of good, let him hold fast to his character. And if he is a man of evil, a man of evil, then he must flee from him as he would flee from a lion.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) gave two similes: one for the good companion and the other for the bad companion. Who remembers the hadith?
What Allah willed, praise be to Allah. This pleases me, even if you do not answer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The likeness of the good companion is like the carrier of musk: either he gives you some of it
meaning he strikes you, meaning he gives you from it.
Or he sells it to you, or you find a pleasant scent from him
This righteous companion, the righteous companion is all good.
And the likeness of the bad companion is like the bellows blower: either he burns your clothes, or you find a foul smell from him
Sahih Ibn Hibban 6:255
Brother, stand up and recite the hadith?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Or he sells it to you.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Either.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Well done. Do you know the bellows blower?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : You do not know it. Rest. Who knows the bellows blower? Please, stand up. But what is the bellows blower?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : I understand that the bad companion is like the bellows blower, but what is it? Who is the bellows blower? And what is this bellows? What is the bellows?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : The blower of fire. Yes, the blower of fire. Either he burns your clothes, or—no, that is not right—either he burns your clothes, or?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : A foul smell. May Allah reward you. Good, rest. And it came in the hadith:
A man follows the religion of his close friend.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 33:79
Listen.
A man follows the religion of his close friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 33:79
And how many a person known for uprightness and righteousness is connected with bad companions, and then they distort him. And how many a person who is not righteous or committed is connected with people of good and commitment, so what?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, Allah guides him through their hands. Therefore, I advise the youth first, and those other than the youth, to have their companions be righteous men who benefit them and from whom they benefit. And if they see one of their companions deviating, let them flee from him as they would flee from a lion, so that they are not affected by him, or by his ideas, or by his morals, or the like of that. Good. If the jinn have whispers, what do the humans have? Whispers. And for this reason, a person seeks refuge in his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) from the jinn and from people.
