Describing the conditions of the Hereafter and what will occur therein of punishment and bliss.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The important point is that when the graves are overturned, people will come out of them.
as if they were locusts spreading, (8) Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." كأنهم جراد منتشر مهطعين إلى الداع يقول الكافرون هذا يوم عسر
[Al-Qamar 54:7-8]
The disbelievers will say this, but the believers will not say it, because it is easy for the believers, as Allah the Exalted said:
For the disbelievers. على الكافرين
What is it?
Not easy. غير يسير
Meaning, it is easy for the believers, praise be to Allah, because the angels will receive them and they will know that they are safe. Their books will be given to them in their right hands. If a person is given his book in his right hand, I ask Allah to make my book and your books in our right hands. If his book is given in his right hand, I ask You, O Allah, for Your favor. He will be glad and happy, and he will say, "Here, read my book!" Just as the result given to a student, if he is successful, what does he do? He is happy and says, "O people, look at the result! Passed, very good, excellent, acceptable, good." The important thing is he is happy and shows it to people. But if he is given the result and he has failed, he tears it up and does not want it. Listen, the image in the Hereafter is close to the image in this world. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
(19) So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! (20) Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." فأما من أوتي كتابه بيمينه فيقول هاؤم اقرؤوا كتابيه إني ظننت أني ملاق حسابيه
[Al-Haqqah 69:19-20]
"I thought" here, my brother, stand up, stand up, O man. What does "I thought" mean?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Rest, it means.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : It means I was certain. Perfect. "Thought" here does not mean doubt and hesitation. "I thought" means I was certain, as Allah the Exalted said:
Who are certain that they will meet their Lord and that they will return to Him. الذين يظنون أنهم ملاقوا ربهم وأنهم إليه راجعون
[Al-Baqarah 2:46]
If "thought" here meant doubt, it would be disbelief. But "thought" here means certainty. The evidence that "thought" means certainty, listen to the Qur'an:
And the criminals will see the Fire and will be certain that they are to fall therein. And they will not find from it a way elsewhere. ورأى المجرمون النار فظنوا أنهم مواقعوها ولم يجدوا عنها مصرفا
[Al-Kahf 18:53]
Certainly. So it is clear by this that "thought" in the Noble Qur'an and in the Arabic language comes to mean certainty. So when Allah the Exalted says:
Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." إني ظننت أني ملاقٍ حسابيه
[Al-Haqqah 69:20]
If it is good, then good; and if it is evil, then evil. But I give glad tidings to the believers, I give glad tidings to the believers that every sin other than shirk (associating partners with Allah) and kufr (disbelief) can be forgiven by Allah. But are you certain? The evidence, Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills إن الله لا يغفر أن يشرك به ويغفر ما دون ذلك لمن يشاء
[An-Nisa 4:48]
For whom He wills. Now, are you certain that you are among those whom Allah wills to forgive? No, you are not certain. But hope in Allah the Exalted, hope in Allah the Exalted, and guard the obedience of Allah. And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is more generous than His servants.
(20) Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." (21) So he will be in a pleasant life - إني ظننت أني ملاق حسابيه فهو في عيشة راضية
[Al-Haqqah 69:20-21]
The scholars said: A life that is pleased is greater and more eloquent than a life that is pleasing. It is greater than a life that is pleasing.
And some scholars said: "Pleased" means "pleasing." These are the people of metaphor who say there is metaphor in the Qur'an. So "pleasing" here means "pleased," meaning "pleasing." Glory be to Allah, Allah says "pleased" and I say "pleasing." This does not hold up. Make it as Allah the Mighty and Majestic said: "Pleased." And it is known that a person may be pleased with something, while he is not pleased with another thing, is that not so?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : By Allah, I do not know. The answer is a bit cold.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : It is known that a person may be pleased with something, while he is not pleased with what is pleasing to him, is that not so? Now, let me give an example. A man has a wife whom he is fully pleased with, but she is not pleased with him and does not want him. Does this not exist? Now, if a life that is pleased is more eloquent than a life that is pleasing, and if a life that is pleased is more eloquent than a life that is pleasing, we must take the apparent meaning of the Qur'an and say: the same life is pleased. And if it is pleased, it is known that it will please the one who lived in it or was with it. Yes. Now,
(21) So he will be in a pleasant life - (22) In an elevated garden, فهو في عيشة راضية في جنة عالية
[Al-Haqqah 69:21-22]
The lofty Paradise is the highest thing; its ceiling is the Throne of the Lord, Exalted and Majestic is He. Allahu Akbar. The Fire is in the lowest depths. The Fire is in the lowest depths. Paradise is in the highest of the highest. Therefore He said:
(22) In an elevated garden, (23) Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. في جنة عالية قطوفها دانية
[Al-Haqqah 69:22-23]
The fruits. Does anyone know them? The brother, I say, stand up.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : You do not know? Are you not a farmer? You are not a farmer. The farmer says, "Go, I will pick the grapes." I have not heard of this. Now, rest. The fruits are the fruits. The fruits are the fruits, meaning that its fruits are near, requiring no effort. If you have a palm tree and you want to take the dates in it, what do you do? Yes, what do you do? What do you do, my brother? You have a palm tree, you climb it, and perhaps you climb it and fall, is that not so? So you are in distress, physically and emotionally. Rest. But in Paradise, the fruits are near. The scholars said: If a man looks at a fruit and desires it, it comes near to him by itself. It draws near. You do not need to climb or even get up from the bed; it draws near to you. O Allah, make us among those who pick it. You are over all things capable. Something wondrous.
Its fruits are near قطوفها دانية
Then what?
Eat and drink كلوا واشربوا
A command of permission and a command of grace. Eat and drink. Eat from this bliss, drink from these rivers. And the rivers of Paradise, how many types are there? Here, how many? Five fingers, five. But the rivers of Paradise are not five. How many are they? Four.
wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk فيها أنهار من ماء غير آسن وأنهار من لبن
[Muhammad 47:15]
?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh :
rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey وأنهار من خمر لذة للشاربين وأنهار من عسل مصفى
[Muhammad 47:15]
Rivers, O my brothers. Rivers. These are rivers by their names. And Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said in the al-Nuniyyah:
"Its rivers flow in no channel ***"
"In no channel they flow *** Glory to the One who holds them back from overflowing"
The rivers in this world must have a channel to prevent them from spreading; the river goes right and left. But in Paradise, there is no channel, no channel beneath them, and no digging. Rivers flow. "Its rivers flow in no channel" Complete it. "Glory to the One who holds them back from overflowing" Yes, by Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. Then they say, the river goes wherever you want. You do not need to bring workers or machines or anything; it goes wherever you want. Meaning, it is impossible to imagine the bliss of Paradise; it contains what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not occurred to the heart of any human being. Therefore, when a person dies and is given glad tidings of Paradise at death, may Allah make me and you among them, his soul says, "Hurry, hurry," meaning, take me to the bliss that is better than this world and what is in it.
