The Shaykh : It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with mass transmission that a person is punished in his grave, to the extent that one day he passed by two graves in Madinah and said: . Who is the source of this report? Who? And he is the most truthful of creation. He confirmed the report with two confirmers: "inna" and the lam Sunan Ibn Majah 349Sahih (Darussalam), meaning in a matter that is difficult for them, but it is easy Sunan an-Nasa'i 2069Sahih (Darussalam): he urinates and the urine falls on his body and on his garment, and he does not care, or he urinates and does not perform istinja' (cleaning). Sunan Ibn Majah 347Sahih (Darussalam), meaning causing corruption among people. He comes to a person and says, "Oh so-and-so, this man is speaking ill of you and saying things about you," and he says things about you, and thus enmity arises between this one and that one. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed that he is Sahih Muslim 105b, meaning a talebearer. Then he took a fresh branch and split it in two. He placed one on each grave. The Companions were amazed. It is not the custom of the Messenger (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) that when a dead person is buried, he places a branch on him. They said, "What did you do, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6052. The Companions were reassured by this, believed in it, and accepted it as true. There is no doubt in this. And this is a punishment established by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding a specific person. So how can someone come and say there is no punishment in the grave? May Allah help us. If it were not for the fact that a person is not declared a disbeliever except under heavy conditions, we would say this person is a disbeliever. But declaring a specific person a disbeliever is not easy; it requires conditions. Listen.
