The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) compassion for his Ummah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) compassion for his Ummah, based on his saying:
Were it not that I would be overburdening my community I would have ordered them لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم
Muwatta Malik 2:114
. Among its manifestations is that the default ruling regarding commands is what? It is obligatory. The scholars of usul al-fiqh (principles of jurisprudence) disagreed on this issue, holding three positions:
The first position is that the default ruling regarding commands is obligation; thus, if Allah commands something, it is obligatory to carry it out. They stated that Allah threatened those who disobey His command in His saying:
So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order فليحذر الذين يخالفون عن أمره
[An-Nur 24:63]
What is it?
lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment. أن تصيبهم فتنة أو يصيبهم عذاب أليم
[An-Nur 24:63]
. Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Do you know what fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) is? Fitnah is shirk (associating partners with Allah), for it is possible that if he rejects part of His speech, something of deviation may enter his heart and he will perish", meaning that the person who disobeys the command of Allah and His Messenger will either be afflicted with shirk (may Allah protect us from it) or with severe punishment.
