The Shaykh : The original ruling is that it is for him and his Ummah, because his Ummah has a good example in him (peace and blessings be upon him). However, if there is an indication that the address is specifically for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), then it is exclusive to him, such as the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Ash-Sharh 94:1] and such as the saying of Allah the Exalted: This is exclusive to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). As for the saying of Allah the Exalted: [At-Tahrim 66:1] this is for him and his Ummah. [At-Talaq 65:1] for him and his Ummah. [Al-Ma'idah 5:67] for him and his Ummah, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Here, Allah the Mighty and Majestic says to His Messenger: [Al-Hijr 15:94] meaning: Proclaim what you are commanded to do and make it clear, and let not the blame of any blamer take you in Allah. This is for him and his Ummah. This is for him and his Ummah. It is obligatory for the entire Ummah to proclaim what Allah the Mighty and Majestic has commanded them to do, to command people with it, and to proclaim what Allah has forbidden, to forbid people from it, because forbidding a thing is a command to leave it. [Al-Hijr 15:94] meaning: Do not be concerned with them, neither in their state nor in the harm they bring. In their state, meaning do not despair, do not grieve over their lack of faith, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Kahf 18:6] [Ash-Shu'ara 26:3] Meaning, do not be preoccupied with them; turn away from them. Turn away from them also regarding what happens to you from their harm, for the outcome will be yours. And indeed, the outcome became for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him); he was patient and victorious. He (peace and blessings be upon him) left Mecca as an emigrant, hiding, fearing for his life. Quraysh had offered two hundred camels for whoever brought him and his companion Abu Bakr, one hundred for each, but Allah the Exalted saved them both. After a few years passed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned as the conqueror of Mecca, victorious and triumphant. He had the upper hand over the multitude of Quraysh, until he stood at the door of the Ka'bah and said: They were all beneath him, humbled. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) showed them mercy after he had been able to overpower them. Thus, his saying: [Al-An'am 6:106] For this reason, He said after the same verse: [Al-Hijr 15:95-98] And consider how Allah the Exalted commanded him to glorify and praise Him after He said: [Al-Hijr 15:97] Because the situation here is one that requires exalting Allah, exalting the Lord the Mighty and Majestic and praising Him from this distress that befalls the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from Quraysh. Meaning, He exalted him from everything that does not befit him. And know that what Allah the Glorious and Exalted has decreed is of the utmost wisdom, and it is so, for it became of the utmost wisdom and of the utmost mercy for which He is praised.
