As for what follows, we are with the chapter on the miswak from *Umdat al-Ahkam*. The Hafiz, Imam 'Abd al-Ghani al-Maqdisi, said:
And it was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Were it not hard on my ummah, I would order them to use the tooth-stick at the time of every prayer. لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بالسواك عند كل صلاة

The Shaykh : Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
were it not that this would be too difficult for my Ummah لولا أن أشق على أمتي

, meaning that it would bring hardship upon them if he ordered them, meaning an order of obligation, to use the miswak with every prayer. This is because the miswak, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) described it:
a purifier for the mouth and a pleaser of the Lord مطهرة للفم مرضاة للرب
, is a purifier for the mouth, for it purifies the mouth, purifying it from what? From dirt and diseases. For this reason, the people who are least afflicted with tooth disease are those who use the miswak frequently. The best thing for the miswak is the arak wood, which is well known and famous. For it has a pleasant smell, a good flavor, and good cleansing properties.
And his saying:
with every prayer عند كل صلاة
includes the obligatory prayer and the voluntary prayer. Indeed, it also includes the funeral prayer, for it is a prayer. So in this hadith there are benefits, among which are:
