Fatawa of the Makkah Haram-1421-01a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: It is narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him)
That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf with a saffron-dyed garment on him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What is the matter?" أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم رأى عبد الرحمن بن عوف وعليه ردع زعفران فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مهيم
.

The Shaykh : What is the matter, what is the matter.
The reader:
"What is the matter?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have married a woman." He said, "What did you give her as a bridal gift?" مهيم فقال يا رسول الله تزوجت امرأة فقال ما أصدقتها؟

The Shaykh : What did you give her as a bridal gift.
The reader:
"What did you give her as a bridal gift?" He said, "The weight of a date pit in gold." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "May Allah bless you. Hold a wedding feast, even if it is only with a sheep." ما أصدقتها قال وزن نواة من ذهب قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بارك الله لك أولم ولو بشاة
.

The Shaykh : Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) was one of the wealthy Companions. He married and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and he found on him a garment dyed with saffron, meaning that it was the custom among them for the groom to dye his clothes with saffron. He said, "What is the matter?" meaning, what is your situation? He said, "I have married a woman." He said, "What did you give her as a bridal gift?" He said, "The weight of a date pit in gold." The date pit is well known; it is the pit found inside the date. He said
May Allah bless you and your wife. Hold a wedding feast, even if it is only with a sheep. بارك الله لك وعليك. أولم ولو بشاة
. Hold a wedding feast, meaning prepare a wedding feast, even if it is only with a sheep.
