The reciter: And Abu al-Tahir narrated to me, Ibn Wahb informed us, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, Abd al-Rahman informed me - and other than Ibn Wahb mentioned his lineage - and Ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Ka'b ibn Malik said that Salamah ibn al-Akwa' said:
Ibn Shihab said: Then I asked a son of Salamah ibn al-Akwa'. He informed me about his father similarly, except that he said - when I said: Indeed some people are afraid to pray over him - the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 2538Sahih (Al-Albani) and he pointed with his two fingers.
The Shaykh : His statement: "Pray over him" means supplicating for him, because praying over him implies he is among the martyrs, and it is known that one does not pray the funeral prayer over martyrs. However, by this he means supplicating for him, based on their defective misconception that his reward was nullified and his deeds were wasted. Look at the explanation: they are afraid to pray over him.
The reader: He did not mention anything.
The Shaykh : What is established is supplicating for him.
When the Day of Khaybar came, my brother fought a fierce battle with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and his sword turned back upon him and killed him. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke about that and doubted him, saying: A man died in his weapon, and they doubted some of his affair. Salamah said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from Khaybar, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, allow me to recite poetry for you. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) allowed him. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said: I know what you are saying. I said: By Allah, had it not been for Allah, we would not have been guided, nor would we have given charity, nor would we have prayed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have spoken the truth. And send down upon us tranquility, and make firm our feet if we meet [the enemy], for the polytheists have transgressed against us. When I finished my poetry, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Who said this? I said: My brother said it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah have mercy on him. I said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed some people are afraid to pray over him, saying: A man died in his weapon. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He died striving in the cause of Allah.

They told a lie, he died as a warrior striving in the path of Allaah. There is a double reward for him.
The Shaykh : His statement: "Pray over him" means supplicating for him, because praying over him implies he is among the martyrs, and it is known that one does not pray the funeral prayer over martyrs.
