What is the ruling on saying, "This is a black night" or "This is a black day"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner asks: What is the ruling on saying, "This is a black night" or "This is a black day"?

The Shaykh : What appears from this phrase, that is, from the one who says, "This is a black day" and "This is a black night," is that it constitutes cursing. If that is the case, then you have heard that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
The son of Adam displeases Me by abusing Dahr (time), whereas I am Dahr يؤذيني ابن آدم يسب الدهر، وأنا الدهر
Sahih Muslim 2246b
. However, if a person describes the day or the time with a severe description, but does not intend to curse, and only intends to convey information, then there is nothing wrong with it, just as Lut (peace be upon him) said:
This is a difficult day هذا يوم عصيب
, meaning severe. So there is a difference between one who says something in the manner of cursing and one who says it only in the manner of conveying information. The first is forbidden from saying what leads to cursing the time, and the second is permissible.
