Is it permissible to transfer zakah from one place to another?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This person is asking, saying: Is it permissible to transfer zakah from one village to another if the one paying zakah is in one village and his relatives are in another?
The Shaykh : The answer is: It is permissible to transfer zakah from one village to another if there is a benefit in doing so, such as transferring it to people in another village who are in greater need, or to relatives of his who are in need. There is no harm in transferring it to the other village.
However, if there is no benefit, it is obligatory to leave it in the village where the wealth is, if there are eligible recipients there. If there are no eligible recipients there, it is transferred to another town where there are eligible recipients.
And our final prayer is that all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Prophet.
