Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the virtue of the adhan,
From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When you hear the call (to prayer), say what the Mu'adh-dhin says.
Sunan Ibn Majah 720Sahih (Darussalam)
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, 'Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu' [O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of)], then my intercession for him will be allowed on the Day of Resurrection
Sahih al-Bukhari 614
Narrated by al-Bukhari.
And from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
If anyone says on hearing the Mu'adhdhin: I testify that there is no god but Allah alone. Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, (and that) I am satisfied with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as Messenger. and with Islam as din (code of life), his sins would be forgiven.
Sahih Muslim 386
Narrated by Muslim.
And from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The supplication made between the Adhan and Iqamah is not rejected.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 212Sahih (Darussalam)
Narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: It is a good hadith. "

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
These hadiths are the remainder of the chapter on the virtue of the adhan. Al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) included them in *Riyad al-Salihin*. Among them is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When you hear the Adhan, you should repeat the same words as the mu’adhdhin pronounces.
Sunan Abi Dawud 522Sahih (Al-Albani)
And among them is:
Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, 'Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu' من قال حين يسمع النداء اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة والصلاة القائمة آت محمدا الوسيلة والفضيلة وابعثه مقاماً محموداً الذي وعدته إنك لا تخلف الميعاد
Sahih al-Bukhari 614

And among them is:
And I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, and I am content with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion and Muhammad as my Prophet
Sunan Ibn Majah 721Sahih (Darussalam)

And among them is: That supplication between the adhan and the iqamah is not rejected. As for the first hadith, it has already been mentioned that it is recommended for a person, when he hears the call, to say what the mu'adhdhin says, except when the mu'adhdhin says "Hayya 'ala al-salah, hayya 'ala al-falah," then he should say: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah."
As for the second hadith:
Whoever after listening to the Adhan
Sahih al-Bukhari 614
This means, and when the mu'adhdhin has finished, as indicated by the previous hadith, when the mu'adhdhin has finished, you send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon his family, and then you say:
O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and this established prayer, grant Muhammad the intercession and the excellence, and raise him, O Allah, to the praiseworthy station which You have promised him. Indeed, You do not break Your promise.
"O Allah, Lord of this perfect call, which is the call to prayer and success, for that is among the most perfect of calls, and the established prayer, meaning the prayer that will be established, for the call is an announcement of the entry of the time of prayer, grant Muhammad the wasilah and the fadilah. Granting him the wasilah means giving him the wasilah, which is a rank in Paradise, the highest of the ranks of Paradise, and it is for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And the fadilah means the distinction and the high rank above others, peace and blessings be upon him. And he has attained that. And send him to the praiseworthy position which You promised him. And Allah promised him that in His saying:
And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.
[Al-Isra 17:79]
And from this praiseworthy position is the great intercession. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, people will be afflicted with distress and sorrow that they cannot bear in that great standing, the measure of which is fifty thousand years, on a single plain, where the caller is heard and the sight reaches them, their bodies naked, their feet bare, their eyes staring, they have no power to benefit themselves or to ward off harm. A man will flee from his brother, his mother, his father, his wife, and his children.
The sun will approach them by a mile, and there is no slope, no shade, no building, and nothing. They will seek someone to intercede for them with Allah. They will come to Adam, then Nuh, then Ibrahim, then Musa, then 'Isa, until they reach the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). He will stand and intercede in this position. The first and the last will praise Him, for all people are in this position. When the noble, great prophets— Ibrahim, Musa, 'Isa, Nuh, and Adam, the father of mankind—could not do it, then this noble Prophet stood and interceded with Allah. Here, the first and the last praise Him. And this is from the praiseworthy position which Allah (Mighty and Majestic) promised him.
Then, this hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari up to the phrase "which You promised him," but the addition
You do not break Your promise
Muwatta Malik 20:132
is authentic. A person should say it because it is authentic, and because this is the supplication of the believers:
Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise." ربنا وآتنا ما وعدتنا على رسلك ولا تحزنا يوم القيامة إنك لا تخلف الميعاد
[Ali 'Imran 3:194]
He (Exalted and Majestic is He) does not break His promise due to the perfection of His truthfulness and the perfection of His power, (Exalted and Majestic is He). Breaking a promise is either due to lying by the one who promised or due to his inability. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is the most truthful of speakers and the most capable of the capable. So He (Glorified and Exalted is He) promised His Prophet in His saying:
it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.
[Al-Isra 17:79]
And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) is truthful in His promise and capable of fulfilling it. As for the one who says when he hears the call:
I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s apostle
Sunan Abi Dawud 974Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is said when the mu'adhdhin says "Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah" and you say it with him, then say:
I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion and with Muhammad (ﷺ) as Apostle
Sunan Abi Dawud 1529Sahih (Al-Albani)

The hadiths contain an exhortation to supplicate between the adhan and the iqamah, and that supplication between the adhan and the iqamah is likely to be answered. You should seize this opportunity and supplicate to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) between the adhan and the iqamah, perhaps Allah will answer you. And success is from Allah.
