Continuation of the benefits of the verse: “And when We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate to Adam, so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He refused and was arrogant and became one of the disbelievers.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Among the benefits of this noble verse is that whoever claims affiliation with a group, outwardly, is treated according to that affiliation. From where is this derived? How? What is the indication? If there is no indication that he claimed affiliation with the angels?
Because the address was directed to them, it included him. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) treated the hypocrites as Muslims and was asked for permission to kill them, even though he knew some of them by name. He said:
lest the people say Muhammad kills his companionsلا يتحدث الناس أن محمدا يقتل أصحابه
Sahih al-Bukhari 4907
Until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A freed slave of a people is one of them.مولى القوم منهم
even though they were not of his lineage.
Among the benefits of this verse is that if one who displays goodness has a heart harboring evil, his true state must eventually become clear.
The student: Allah said of Iblis that he
He refused and was arrogantأبى واستكبر
This indicates that he...
The Shaykh : ...that there is a malignant disease in his heart. From this, we proceed to the self-education of a person, and that a person should look into his heart to see if there is any hidden evil, and if so, he should beware of it. For a person may do the deeds of the people of Paradise in what appears to people, while he is among the people of the Fire. Purify your heart; purifying the heart is more important than purifying the body, and submission to Allah with the heart is more important than submission with the head, and prostration of the heart to Allah is more important than prostration of the body. May Allah help us in that. Strive for this; strive to reform the heart. Do not carry showing off, or associating partners with Allah, or arrogance toward the believers, or grudge, or envy. Purify the hearts so that you are not sealed with a bad ending.
A man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise, but he is of the dwellers of the Hell-Fireإن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة فيما يبدوا للناس وهو من أهل النار
Sahih al-Bukhari 4207
O Allah, we seek refuge in Your greatness from that. Amen.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is that Iblis, may Allah be protected from him, gathered all the attributes of blame: refusing the command, arrogance toward the truth and toward creation, and thirdly, disbelief. Iblis was arrogant toward the truth because he did not obey the command of Allah, and he was arrogant toward creation because he said, “I am better than him.” So he exalted himself and humiliated others. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and belittling people. The time is up. Yes.
