Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
And those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those will be companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally." والذين كفروا وكذبوا بآياتنا أولئك أصحاب النار هم فيها خالدون
[Al-Baqarah 2:39]
Those who disbelieved
is the subject,
and deniedوكذبوا
is conjoined to it,
those are the companions of the Fireأولئك أصحاب النار
the sentence is the predicate of the subject,
and they will abide therein eternally.
[Al-Baqarah 2:25]
the sentence is in the position of the accusative as a state, meaning the state of their being eternal,
those who disbelieve and denyالذين كفروا وكذبوا
[Al-Baqarah 2:39]
disbelievedكفروا
by the command,
and deniedوكذبوا
by the report, so with them is denial and arrogance, and these two are the foundations of disbelief, because disbelief revolves around two things: either arrogance or denial.
Let us look at the disbelief of Iblis? Arrogance? Did he acknowledge? Yes, yes, he acknowledged, but he was arrogant. What about the disbelief of Pharaoh and his people? Yes, it was arrogance, but its outward appearance was denial and refutation, because Allah said:
they denied themجحدوا بها
So in their tongues they were refuting, but in their hearts they were believing. So we can say that their disbelief was arrogance and denial. So by the consideration of their words, what is it? Denial. And by the consideration of their actions, it is arrogance, because they acknowledged the truth. So His saying:
Those who disbelieved
means they disbelieved regarding the actions and were arrogant toward them and did not submit to them.
and denied Our verses وكذبوا بآياتنا
Which verses? The legislative verses. And if the cosmic verses are added to that, the matter becomes more severe, but the important ones are the legislative verses, because among the disbelieving refuters are those who believed in the cosmic verses but not the legislative ones. For example, the disbelievers of Quraysh believed in a verse, in what? In the cosmic verses. They acknowledge that Allah is the Creator of the heavens, that He is the Provider, that He is the Giver of life, that He is the Giver of death, and that He is the Manager of all affairs. But they disbelieved in the legislative verses. So if
Our verses
since disbelief in the legislative verses encompasses disbelief in the cosmic verses, let us say
Our verses
what? The legislative ones. And if disbelief in the cosmic verses is added to that, it becomes more ugly and evil. And
Thoseأولئك
means the ones mentioned. He referred to them with the sign of distance to distance himself from them and avoid their path, not to elevate them and exalt them. But because of the apparent disavowal of them and distancing from them, he said:
Thoseأولئك
means the ones mentioned,
companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally." أصحاب النار هم فيها خالدون
[Al-Baqarah 2:39]
the companions of it, meaning those who are constant with it. For this reason, the word “companions” does not come except for the disbelievers; it never comes for the believers. Everything that contains “companions of the Fire,” they are the disbelievers, because the meaning is those who are companions to it, and a companion must be constant with the one he accompanies. And His saying:
and they will abide therein eternally.
[Al-Baqarah 2:25]
means they are abiding.
Is the intended meaning a long abiding or a permanent one? It is necessary for us to say that the intended meaning is the permanent abiding. The evidence for that is three verses in the Book of Allah: a verse in al-Nisa, a verse in al-Ahzab, and a verse in al-Jinn. So the verse in al-Nisa, is it hidden from you? Yes, where did you get the verse from? Is this in al-Nisa? I said in al-Nisa, in al-Ahzab, and in al-Jinn. We want the verse from al-Nisa from you? Do you not memorize it, Yahya? Read what comes before it?
The student:
(168) Indeed, those who disbelieve and commit wrong [or injustice] - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a path. (169) Except the path of Hell; they will abide therein forever. And that, for Allah, is [always] easy.
[An-Nisa 4:168-169]

The Shaykh : You did well, perfect. And in al-Ahzab? Read the verse? Yes, Jawhar? ..
(64) Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze. (65) Abiding therein forever, they will not find a protector or a helper.
[Al-Ahzab 33:64-65]
, in al-Jinn? ..
And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.
[Al-Jinn 72:23]
.
From the benefits of this noble verse. Yes? Questions.
