Then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned, after mentioning the reward of the believers who did righteous deeds, those who are their opposites, saying: [Al-Baqarah 2:39] in contrast to the righteous deeds, in contrast to faith, so they denied what must be believed in, and disbelieved in what must be acted upon [Al-Baqarah 2:39] Thus, they did not stand firm upon the command nor upon the report; they opposed the report with denial and opposed the action with disbelief. The question is whether the verses referred to here are the legislative verses or the cosmic verses? It is both. Whoever denies the lordship of Allah, His creation of the creatures, and His management of the universe is one who denies the cosmic verses. And whoever affirms that but does not establish the obedience of Allah has disbelieved and denied the legislative verses. The verses of Allah the Exalted are cosmic and legislative. The cosmic ones are this universe with what is in it of the sun, moon, stars, night, day, seas, rivers, and other great creations, some of which are not encompassed in their greatness and some not in their smallness. Sometimes you look through the book and find... very, very small insects that you can barely see with the eye, and these are created by Allah, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) provides for them. He knows their resting place and their storehouse, and nothing is hidden from Him regarding them, as He the Exalted said: [Hud 11:6] . And the legislative verse is what the messengers brought, and they were verses indicating Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because humans cannot bring them. Who can bring a law that is suitable for humans in every time and place in relation to the law of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? No one. And likewise, the laws for the previous nations were perfect in their conditions, times, and places, so no one can bring such legislative verses. Allah the Exalted said: "Those" is a second subject, and is the first subject, and is the predicate of the second subject, and the second subject is its predicate in the position of the predicate of the first subject. And the connector? The connector is the demonstrative. meaning the people of the blazing fire who are constantly with it, and the blazing fire is the Fire—may Allah protect us and you from it—and it is named so because of its depth and darkness.
