A man who performs righteous deeds until he dies with a good ending so that people will remember him with good after his death: Is this showing off?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says: What is your opinion of the one who says: “I perform righteous deeds in my life so that when I die, I will die with a good ending, in order that people will remember me with good”? Is the intention to die in a state of righteousness for the sake of people remembering him considered showing off? One must look at the matter: if the motive for performing the act of worship is the love of people’s praise, then there is no doubt that the sincerity of the intention is deficient. However, if he performs the good deed for the sake of Allah, and then it is pleasing to him that people praise him, there is no harm in that. This is part of the immediate glad tidings for the believer, namely that people praise him when he performs a righteous deed.
