Righteous deeds with the intention of people praising them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
May Allah reward you. Abu Abdullah asks: Does this affect a person's deed if he performs a righteous deed, but he likes to look at the praise and gratitude of the people for it?

Answer:
Answer: This invalidates his deed. This is showing off (riya'), and it invalidates the deed he performed in the hope that people will praise him and speak well of him. He will have no reward for it. (So whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him do righteous work and associate with none in the worship of his Lord). Major shirk (associating partners with Allah) nullifies all deeds, and minor shirk, which is showing off, invalidates the deed in which it is present. Therefore, it is obligatory for the Muslim to make his deeds sincere for Allah, free from major shirk and minor shirk.
