The Shaykh : He says: The wife learned of her husband's death five months after his passing. Does she observe the waiting period? The answer is no, she does not observe it, because the time for it has passed. The waiting period begins from the husband's death, not from the wife's knowledge of it. The same applies in the case of divorce: if he divorces her, the waiting period begins from the divorce, not from her knowledge of it.
