What is the ruling on one who does not eat except what a Muslim has slaughtered, and the one who performs the slaughter takes a sum from him in exchange for slaughtering it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, in our land there are customs of the disbelievers; they do not eat except what a Muslim has slaughtered.

The Shaykh : Except what?

The questioner : They do not eat the slaughtered animal unless a Muslim man slaughters it, and this Muslim man takes a specific sum from them. Is this permissible?

The Shaykh : Meaning, a wage for the slaughter?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : First: the fact that they do not eat except what a Muslim has slaughtered is an error, because Allah has made lawful for us the slaughter of the Jews and the Christians. He the Exalted said:
and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them وطعام الذين أوتوا الكتاب حلّ لكم وطعامكم حلّ لهم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:5]
, Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said: "Their food is their slaughter". So those whose slaughter is lawful are three categories:
The Muslim, the Jew, and the Christian.
So if a Muslim slaughters the animal and asks for a wage for it, whether before the slaughter or after it, there is no harm, because this is a permissible work, and taking a wage for permissible work is permissible. Yes.
