The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [An-Naml 27:88]? And when will that be? And what is the manner of their passing?
The Shaykh : That will be on the Day of Resurrection, because Allah the Exalted says:[An-Naml 27:87-88]: And this is while they are dust, and the Qur'an explains part of itself by another part. Whoever interprets it as the rotation of the earth in this world has spoken about Allah without knowledge; rather, he has said what contradicts the saying of Allah Mighty and Majestic, because Allah mentioned this after the blowing of the Trumpet.
As for His saying:[An-Naml 27:88], and that the Day of Resurrection is entirely certainty, and it is not possible for anything in it to be called estimation or conjecture, it is said that Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hajj 22:1-2], and yet Allah says: "You will see them intoxicated, but they are not intoxicated," and this will be on the Day of Resurrection. Is that clear? Yes.
And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds
وترى الجبال تحسبها جامدةً وهي تمرّ مرّ السّحابThe Shaykh : That will be on the Day of Resurrection, because Allah the Exalted says:
(87) And [warn of] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allah wills. And all will come to Him humbled. (88) And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds
ويوم ينفخ في الصّور ففزع من في السّماوات ومن في الأرض إلاّ من شاء الله وكلّ أتوه داخرين * وترى الجبال تحسبها جامدة وهي تمرّ مرّ السّحابAs for His saying:
