What is the ruling on offering condolences through newspapers?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says in the last paragraph, O Shaykh Muhammad, he says: What is the ruling on offering condolences through newspapers?

The Shaykh : Offering condolences through newspapers, I fear, is of the kind of eulogizing that is condemned, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eulogizing. And the usual intention behind condolences in newspapers is to announce the death of this man for whom condolences are being offered. Otherwise, the one offering condolences can write a letter to the deceased's family or call them on the telephone, which suffices in place of the announcement. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
