Ruling on gathering for condolences

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Regarding condolences at the house, they hold them for three days. Sometimes the aunt, the maternal uncle’s son, or the paternal uncle’s son orders you to be present at the condolences, and this causes us embarrassment. For example, there might be a dispute with the uncle, and he might not speak to you for months. This has actually happened to me. What is your ruling?
Gathering for condolences is a religious innovation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions did not gather for them. Moreover, such gatherings are often accompanied by many things that are blameworthy. Therefore, do not attend the gathering, and do not open your door for the gathering. And the issue: Whether so-and-so is angry or not is of no consequence, as long as the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) contradicts this. We are commanded to follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah the Exalted said:
And [mention] the Day He will call them and say, "What did you answer the messengers?"وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ مَاذَا أَجَبْتُمُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
[Surah al-Qasas: 65] .
Furthermore, opening the door for condolences implies that the bereaved family is not content. As if they are saying to people: “O people! Come, give us our condolences.”
And in Allah (Mighty and Majestic) lies consolation for all of this. So I advise you to sever ties with them. If someone boycotts you or cuts off ties with you, the sin is upon him. You should not boycott him or cut off ties with him; the sin is upon him.
