What is your advice to one who is lax in purifying himself from urine?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah guide you to what He loves and is pleased with.

The Shaykh : Amen, and to you and to whoever hears.

The questioner : What has become widespread in this time and this age is the failure to protect oneself from urine, whether from the young or the old, the male or the female, the knowledgeable or the ignorant, especially when wearing socks in winter, because the floor of the restroom is hard, so it is inevitable that some spray reaches...

The Shaykh : It is inevitable, what?

The questioner : ...that some urine reaches [the socks] if a person does not take precautions, and many people are lax in this matter. What is your advice, may Allah guide you?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that being lax regarding urine, meaning in purifying oneself from it, is a great error, because it is one of the causes of the punishment of the grave, as established in the two Sahihs in the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by two graves and said:
They are being punished but they are not being punished for anything major. إنهما ليعذبان، وما يعذبان في كبير
Sunan Ibn Majah 349Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning: in a matter that is difficult for them
One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine أما أحدهما فكان لا يستتر من البول
Sahih al-Bukhari 218
meaning: he does not purify himself from it or ensure complete cleanliness from it
and the other used to walk about spreading malicious gossip. وأما الآخر فكان يمشي بالنميمة
Sunan Ibn Majah 347Sahih (Darussalam)
, and it is narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Purify yourselves from urine, for most of the punishment of the grave is from it. Then the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) took a fresh palm frond, split it in two, and stuck one in each grave. They said: Why did you do that? He said: Perhaps it will lighten the punishment for them as long as they do not dry out.
.
And some scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) took from this hadith: that it is recommended that when a deceased person is buried, a fresh palm frond or a tree branch or something similar be placed on him or stuck in his grave, and this is a great error, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not place this on every grave; he only placed it on two graves that were being punished. Do you know that this grave is being punished when you place this frond? The answer is: No. So now you have thought ill of the occupant of the grave by placing the frond on him, meaning: as if you are saying: this grave is being punished, and you do not know that. I only pointed this out because some scholars said: that it is recommended to place a fresh frond on the grave after burial, or a tree branch or something similar, and this is undoubtedly an error and is not from the Sunnah.
Then, regarding what the brother questioner mentioned about the current restrooms and that they are hard, it is said: restrooms are undoubtedly hard, but restrooms have a specific place where the urine is, which is the basin in which a person urinates, and what is outside this basin is not impure, and if a person uses a jug or the shower or something other than the shower, he is safe from urine spraying on his socks or his leather socks, and I see no harm in this.
Yes, some people, when they want to perform istinja', place a container near them into which they pour water, then they scoop with their hand from the container and sprinkle it on their private parts, and this is what may cause some urine to splash on them, so if this person who places the container used a jug or the shower, it would be better and closer to cleanliness.
