The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you. In our country, a case has arisen among some scholars, causing a problem between two men: one had a calf and the other had a camel, and they exchanged them.

The Shaykh : He had a camel.

The questioner : One had a camel and the other had a calf.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.

The questioner : They exchanged them, and after a period of time had passed, the owner of the calf did not have this right; someone took it and gave it to this person.

The Shaykh : Yes, it was usurped, meaning.

The questioner : It was usurped. That one took his calf, and this one sold the camel and traveled, leaving his country and going to another country. After twenty-one years had passed, he returned, and the owner of the calf seized him and went to the judge, saying, "You must give him the value from that time, forty riyals. Now the calf is worth over twenty thousand with them. How is it settled? Does he give him a calf or its value?"

The Shaykh : Since ... they have reached the judge, we hope that Allah will guide him to the truth. Otherwise, invite them here and we will judge between them, if Allah wills.
