A guiding address to spur the will to continue righteous deeds.

The Shaykh : On the occasion of the end of the month of fasting and the psychological emptiness that befalls every person who was diligent in the month of Ramadan, I would like to remind my brothers that the deeds of a believer are not restricted to specific seasons, such as the seasons of good like the month of Ramadan and the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and the like. Rather, they continue until a person dies, as Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Baqarah 2:132] And He, the Exalted, said: So Allah, the Exalted, did not set a limit for the deeds of a believer other than death. Therefore, it is obligatory for us to make these seasons a stimulus for us to do righteous deeds and to turn to Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, with righteous deeds that bring us closer to Him, and that our will not weaken from doing acts of obedience when these seasons end. I am mentioning to you examples that indicate that the deeds of a Muslim do not end with the seasons. For example, fasting does not end with the end of Ramadan; fasting is prescribed at all times, and the best of fasting is the fasting of Dawud, who would fast one day and break the fast the next. There are other types of fasting, including fasting six days of Shawwal. Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal is like fasting the whole year. If a person fasts all of Ramadan, whether as performance or as making up missed days if he has any, and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is like fasting the whole year. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Riyad as-Salihin 1260 And it is established from him that he said: Sunan Ibn Majah 1730Sahih (Darussalam) And he said regarding the fasting of Ashura, which is the tenth of the month of Muharram: Sunan Ibn Majah 1738Sahih (Darussalam) And he ordered to fast the day before it or the day after it. And he said, (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 1163a Likewise, standing in prayer; standing in prayer did not end with the end of Ramadan. Standing in prayer is prescribed every night. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said in describing the people of Paradise: [Adh-Dhariyat 51:17-18] And He, the Exalted, said: [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand in prayer at night until his feet would swell. And it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Muwatta Malik 15:32 And that was every night. So standing in prayer, the night prayer, did not end with the end of standing in prayer in Ramadan, but it is continuous and permanent every night. A person should make a share for himself of the last part of the night in which he stands, even if it is only half an hour, according to what is easy for him. And if he stands in prayer at night, let him persist, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Mishkat al-Masabih 1234 Then, he should not belittle any amount of righteous work. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sunan Abi Dawud 1368Sahih (Al-Albani) And let him conclude the night prayer with the witr. If he hopes to stand in prayer in the last part of the night, let him do the witr at the end of it. If he does not hope to, let him do the witr at the beginning before he sleeps. Expenditures and charities continue to be prescribed; they did not end with Ramadan. Among the charities is for a person to spend on his family. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: Sahih al-Bukhari 56 regarding your wife, meaning her mouth. So charities and expenditures have remained prescribed at all times. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that there is no Muslim who gives charity with something equivalent to a date of good quality, and Allah does not accept except what is good, but Allah, the Exalted, takes it with His right hand and grows it for him as one of us grows his foal, meaning the young of his horse, until it becomes like a mountain. And he informed that every person will be in the shade of his charity on the Day of Resurrection. And he informed that seven people will be shaded by Allah in His shade, among them Sahih al-Bukhari 1423 Likewise, the 'Umrah in Ramadan and in other times. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1349a So it is not restricted to Ramadan, but it is better in the months of Hajj than in Ramadan according to many scholars. They argued for this position by saying that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never performed 'Umrah in Ramadan; rather, his 'Umrahs were in the months of Hajj. The 'Umrah of Hudaybiyyah was in Dhul-Qa'dah, the 'Umrah of al-Qada' was in Dhul-Qa'dah, the 'Umrah of al-Ji'ranah was in Dhul-Qa'dah, and his 'Umrah with his Hajj was also in Dhul-Hijjah, and its ihram was in the last part of Dhul-Qa'dah. So the conclusion, may Allah bless you, is that righteous deeds do not cease with the end of the seasons. Rather, the seasons are only a manifestation of the favor of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and His mercy to His servants, and a stimulus for a person to return to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and to carry out His obedience. It should be taken as strength and energy for work in the future. I ask Allah, the Exalted, to help us and you in His remembrance, His thanks, and the excellence of His worship, and to make us among His righteous servants who are guided to all good. Indeed, He is capable of all things. Now, as for the questions, we begin with the right side.
