The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-01a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Yahya ibn Ayyub, Qutaybah ibn Sa'id, and Ali ibn Hujrah narrated to us, saying: Isma'il, and he is ibn Ja'far, narrated to us from al-Ala from his father from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have been given superiority over the other prophets in six respects: I have been given words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; I have been helped by terror (in the hearts of enemies): spoils have been made lawful to me: the earth has been made for me clean and a place of worship; I have been sent to all mankind and the line of prophets is closed with me.
Sahih Muslim 523a
.

The Shaykh : This is an addition to what came before, which was his saying:
I was given the comprehensive words.
. And "Jawami'" is the plural of "Jami'ah," meaning a comprehensive word. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was given the comprehensive words, meaning that he speaks a word or a sentence that equals pages, or perhaps even volumes! The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) took care of the comprehensive hadiths. Among them is al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) in *al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyyah*, which is comprehensive, from the comprehensive words. Look at his saying:
Say, ‘I believe in God’, then keep to the straight path.
Mishkat al-Masabih 15Sahīh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
, a comprehensive word that encompasses the entire religion. And look at his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding those who ask: "Who created such and such? Who created such and such?" He said:
Let him seek refuge in Allah and then stop.
. These are two decisive words that drive away every doubt that comes to the heart. If the philosophers and the people of *kalam* had wanted to repel such whispers, you would have seen them writing pages, and they would not have produced the fruit that these two words produced.
Part of a person’s goodness in Islam is his leaving alone that which does not concern him.
Sunan Ibn Majah 3976Da’if (Darussalam)
. This is a methodology by which a person can proceed in his life.
So the important point is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was given the comprehensive words. And the wisdom, and Allah knows best, of that is for this Shari'ah to be principles and regulations, not individual partial issues, so that the last of the Ummah can build the partial issues upon these comprehensive words. Okay, that is one. Second: "I was supported by awe" was mentioned before. "The spoils of war were made lawful for me" was mentioned before. "The earth was made for me a mosque and a place of purification" was mentioned before. "I was sent to all people" was mentioned before. "The prophets were sealed with me" is an addition. So here in this hadith there are two additional characteristics, and in the previous hadith there is one characteristic, making three and one: eight.
Okay, "The prophets were sealed with me" is a virtue for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because it necessitates that his Shari'ah be eternal, since the Ummah must remain with the effects of the message. It also necessitates a large number of followers, and this is a great distinction, because every person who does a good deed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has the like of it. And we said that it is an innovation and foolishness for a person to do a deed and say: "O Allah, make its reward, if You keep me upon it, for the Messenger of Allah." And there are people who dedicate rewards to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)!
So we say: First, this is an innovation, for you do not love for the Messenger the good that Abu Bakr and Umar love for him. And second, this is foolishness, because if you say that, it means you have deprived yourself of the good, whereas the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) has your reward whether you dedicate it to him or not.
Okay, what is the ruling on one who claims prophethood after him?
He is a disbeliever, because he is lying about the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Allah the Exalted said:
Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets
[Al-Ahzab 33:40]
, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said here:
The prophets were sealed with me.
. Yes.
