Is it permissible to kill a lizard in the mosque?

The questioner : Is it permissible to kill a lizard during prayer?

The Shaykh : Do you not know the status of the lizard? It blew fire upon your father Ibrahim. Can there ever be friendship between you and it? For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the killing of lizards. Kill it in the mosque and outside the mosque, but if you kill it and it dies, take it out of the mosque.

The questioner : It is on the wall, and the wall may become dirty?

The Shaykh : If the wall becomes dirty, wash it, if it can be washed, or scrape it if it cannot be washed.
