The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*:
“From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who killed a gecko with the first stroke for him is such and such a reward, and he who killed it with a second stroke for him is such and such reward less than the first one, and he who killed it with the third stroke for him is such and such a reward
Sahih Muslim 2240a
.
In another narration:
If anyone kills a chameleon with the first blow, a hundred good deeds will be recorded for him; less than that will be recorded for him if he kills it at the second blow, and still less rewards will be recorded for him if he kills it at the third blow.
Riyad as-Salihin 1864
Muslim narrated it.
From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A man said, “I will surely give charity,” so he went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a thief. In the morning, people were talking: “Charity was given tonight to a thief.” He said, “Praise be to Allah for that. I will surely give charity,” so he went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a fornicator. In the morning, people were talking: “Charity was given tonight to a fornicator.” He said, “Praise be to Allah for that, for a fornicator! I will surely give charity,” so he went out with his charity and placed it in the hand of a rich man. In the morning, people were talking: “Charity was given tonight to a rich man.” He said, “Praise be to Allah for that, for a thief, and for a fornicator, and for a rich man!” Then he was brought to [the Prophet] and it was said to him: “As for your charity to the thief, perhaps he will refrain from his theft; and as for the fornicator, perhaps she will refrain from her fornication; and as for the rich man, perhaps he will take heed and spend from what Allah has given him.”
Al-Bukhari narrated it with its wording, and Muslim with its meaning.
And from him (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: “
Abu Huraira reported: Meat was one day brought to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and a foreleg was offered to him, a part which he liked. He sliced with his teeth a piece out of it and said: I shall be the leader of mankind on the Day of Resurrection. Do you know why? Allah would gather in one plain the earlier

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
We previously mentioned in the last lesson:
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the killing of lizards and said that it used to blow fire upon Ibrahim
.
The lizard is well known; it is what is called the leper lizard, and killing it carries reward in obedience to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and in seeking reward and recompense, because in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that the author mentioned:
That whoever kills it the first time has one hundred good deeds, and the second time he has seventy good deeds, and the third time less than that
.
And every one of us seeks good deeds, but we ask Allah for guidance to their path, so strive, my brother, for this: kill it with your hand, or with a sandal, or with a stone, or with a stick, or otherwise. It has been mentioned that the Mother of the Believers, Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), had prepared a stick for this purpose: something resembling a spear with which she would kill lizards, so it is recommended for a person to strive to kill them.
