The Shaykh : As for the third hadith in our lesson today: it is the killing of the lizard:
The lizard is this poisonous, leper-like creature, the one that comes into houses, lays eggs, hatches, and harms people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered its killing. There was a spear with Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) with which she would pursue lizards and kill them,. All of this is to encourage Muslims to hasten to kill it and to kill it forcefully so that it dies on the first strike.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called it an open sinner,, refuge is sought in Allah.
When Ibrahim’s enemies threw him into the fire, this wretched lizard used to blow on the fire so that its flames would intensify against Ibrahim. This indicates its complete enmity toward the people of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and sincerity. Therefore, a person should pursue lizards in his house, in the market, and in the mosque and kill them. And success is from Allah.

وأخبر عليه الصلاة والسلام أن من قتله في أول مرة فله كذا وكذا من الأجر ، وفي الثانية أقل وفي الثالثة أقلThe Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called it an open sinner,
