If someone with a foul odor prays next to me, should I break my prayer and change my location?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If a man prays next to someone who has eaten garlic, is it permissible for him to leave the prayer?
The Shaykh : Why would he not remove the one with the odor? Because even if he does not harm the other people, he is harming the angels. For this reason, the Companions used to take those who had eaten onions, garlic, or similar things out to al-Baqi' and keep them away from the mosque. However, if a person is unable to do so, and someone with a foul odor from onions, garlic, bad breath, or body odor prays next to him, and he is unable to continue praying, he may break his prayer and move to the other side.
