The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: 'Abd al-Hamid ibn Bayyan al-Wasiti narrated to us, saying: Khalid ibn 'Abd Allah informed us, from Sahl, from Abu 'Ubayd al-Madhiji. Muslim said: Abu 'Ubayd was the client of Sulayman ibn 'Abd al-Malik. [The chain continues] from 'Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone extols Allah after every prayer thirty-three times, and praises Allah thirty-three times, and declares His Greatness thirty-three times, ninety-nine times in all, and says to complete a hundred:" There is no god but Allah, having no partner with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him is praise due, and He is Potent over everything," his sins will be forgiven even If these are as abundant as the foam of the sea. من سبح الله في دبر كل صلاة ثلاثا وثلاثين وحمد الله ثلاثا وثلاثين وكبر الله ثلاثا وثلاثين فتلك تسعة وتسعون وقال تمام المائة لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير غفرت خطاياه وإن كانت مثل زبد البحر

"That makes ninety-nine." How did the demonstrative pronoun become feminine while the referent is masculine, as indicated by the number? It is said that the collective noun can be treated as feminine. In this regard, al-Zamakhshari says in two verses, which he mentioned in his refutation of his enemies:
"I do not care about their collective noun *** Every collective noun is feminine" This is one perspective.
The second perspective is that his statement:
That makes. فتلك
refers to the preceding words, meaning "in those words." "Ninety-nine" is the predicate, but it came in the masculine form because it is a masculine noun, and the masculine is treated as masculine. However, the first perspective is closer to the truth. We will complete the second narration so that...
