The reciter: And Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn 'Urayrah al-Sami' said: Harimi ibn 'Ammar said: Shu'bah narrated from 'Uqbah ibn Mutharid, from Sulayman ibn Buraydah, from his father:
That a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about the times of prayer. He said: "Witness the prayer with us." So he ordered Bilal to give the call to prayer in the darkness, and he prayed the Fajr prayer when the dawn appeared. Then he ordered him to give the call for the Zuhr prayer when the sun passed the zenith of the sky. Then he ordered him to give the call for the 'Asr prayer while the sun was high. Then he ordered him to give the call for the Maghrib prayer when the sun had set. Then he ordered him to give the call for the 'Isha' prayer when the twilight had disappeared. Then he ordered him the next day to give the call for the Fajr prayer when the light of dawn appeared. Then he ordered him to give the call for the Zuhr prayer when it had cooled down. Then he ordered him to give the call for the 'Asr prayer when the sun was white and pure, not mixed with any yellowness. Then he ordered him to give the call for the Maghrib prayer before the twilight disappeared. Then he ordered him to give the call for the 'Isha' prayer when one-third of the night had passed, or some of it—Harimi was uncertain. When morning came, he said: "Where is the questioner? What you saw is the time."
