The reciter: And Hajjaj ibn al-Sha'ir narrated to me, saying: Ma'la ibn Asad narrated to us, saying: Wahib ibn Khalid narrated to us from Ja'far ibn Muhammad from his father from Abu Mura, the freed slave of 'Aqil, from Umm Hani'

The Shaykh : Do you have one?

The Shaykh : I do not have it.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited this hadith in the completion of the hadiths regarding the two rak'ahs of the Duha prayer. We have previously stated that the stronger position is that the Sunnah of Duha is a Sunnah always, a Sunnah always, and that the scholars have three opinions on this matter, but this is the stronger position. He cited the hadith of Umm Hani' (may Allah be pleased with her), the sister of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed Duha in her house on the day of the Conquest eight rak'ahs, and he did not pray before it or after it. The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) differed on whether these prayers are the Duha prayer or the Prayer of the Conquest. Some scholars held that it is the Duha prayer, and they used it as evidence that the Duha prayer can be up to eight rak'ahs. Some scholars said, rather, that this is the Prayer of the Conquest, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed it in the Duha time on the day of the Conquest, and he did not pray before it or after it, and because it was not his custom to pray eight rak'ahs, but rather to pray two rak'ahs and add whatever Allah willed, as mentioned previously. In my view, the matter is possible for both this and that, but we have previously said: what is the minimum for the two rak'ahs of Duha?
The student: Two rak'ahs.

The Shaykh : And the maximum?
The student: It has no limit.

The Shaykh : Whatever Allah wills or whatever a person wills: four rak'ahs, six rak'ahs, eight rak'ahs, ten rak'ahs; all of this falls within the Sunnah of Duha.
