The Time of the Duha Prayer and the Number of Its Rak'ahs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I perform the Duha prayer in eight rak'ahs between seven and eight in the morning. Is what I have done valid?

Answer:
Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did it. He prayed the Duha prayer in eight rak'ahs on the Day of the Conquest. It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said:
He entered my house in the morning and prayed eight rak'ahsإنه دخل بيتي في الضحى، فصلى ثماني ركعات
.
The Duha prayer has a wide scope; it can be eight, ten, or more, and its minimum is two rak'ahs. It is established that he (peace and blessings be upon him) advised Abu Hurayrah and Abu al-Darda to pray the two rak'ahs of Duha. He used to visit Quba in Medina and pray two rak'ahs of Duha, may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him.
The point is that the two rak'ahs of Duha are a confirmed recommended practice (sunnah muakkadah), and its minimum is two rak'ahs. If one prays four, six, eight, or more, there is nothing wrong with any of that. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray four rak'ahs of Duha, and would add whatever Allah willed." Umm Hani, the daughter of Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with her), said: "She witnessed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying the Duha prayer in eight rak'ahs on the Day of the Conquest." Yes.
